Lake Tanganyika Biotope upgrade...
I love the fish that come from Lake Tanganyika! It’s kind of like if you are a sports fan, you probably have some kind of personal connection with your favorite team. Maybe it was a team you watched or saw live when you were young. Maybe you have some family member playing or associated with that team. Whatever the reason is you might be a fan…. For those that have followed along through the…

My new company has me (safely – adhering all compliances) home-growing desert microalgae like Georgia O'keeffe going scientist 🧫🔬
#It's actually super interesting – the growth process of an algae culture#It's a controlled sterile environment within an aquarium airflow set-up with desert rocks and all#Might post a pick when it's set up#I'm beyond amphibian or reptilian woman now am I#oh man

YouTube has me under strict instructions not to feed the shrimp anything until they start reproducing, and, also, to relax, since my tank has a good amount of algae and biofilm in it AND some copepods. My tapwater, conditioned, has historically had no trouble growing copepods and amphipods and ostracods and etc., so if it’ll support all that it’s a big green flag for shrimp.
#the easiest way to kill all of the shrimp at this stage is to attempt to feed them something v_v#pimephales promelas var petco#have to keep reminding myself the stately Amano is like PACKED SOLID with what it’s foraged#and that the plants have green new growth poking out of their slumped algae shrouds#and everything is FINE

Athens can be nice, sometimes. These are mostly on some paths around Lycabettos.

Unfortunately, the top was cut off by a building with big touristy-vibes and I wasn't in the mood. And of course there was a damn church there (see next pic).

Also fav shoes and kitty on da steps

#personal#i also got some snails for sunny's tank and a plant to help with some algae growth that has been happening#not even past 3pm and the day has been full and good#( ̄︶ ̄)

It may not snow in Tripol but it does 'snow' in the waters surrounding it. We're talking marine snow - detritus from the upper parts of the ocean to the lower parts. For those living in the ocean depths like the Abyssals I'd imagine the amount and nature of what falls from above would be the equivalent of a seasonal change. Migratory animals like seals and cetacens probably the biggest indicators.
To some extent it also contributes to how the passage of time (like on a month/ year scale) would be recorded. Since it would be easily effected by things like human activity and climate change, its not the only thing though. Temperature, sunlight, and tides would also have to be factored in...hm....
#[ out of circuits ]#[ data : abyssals ]#[ location information ]#(( this is mostly just me pondering to myself tbh#also i think temperature and sunlight can be tracked through both animal activity and plant + algae growth#again parallels to surface seasons#this is just worldbuilding for funsies rather than any narrativr necessity ngl

I am so glad I have the day off. Heat stroke migraine is nearly as bad as regular migraine. It's starting to go away though now that I've found my soft ice pack. Been placing it intermittently on the back of my neck and took my migraine relief meds. No more blurred vision in my right eye, yay!
#wanted to go swimming last night to cool down#but all the local beaches have toxic algae bloom warnings#due to temps lowering then spiking again#making it the perfect conditions for growth#normally it's something we only have to worry about in the spring#so cool shower instead

A Deep Dive into the Algae Biofuel Market: Insights and Analysis
The global algae biofuel market size is expected to reach USD 17.94 billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of 10.1% from 2023 to 2030, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. Depleting fossil fuel resources as well as rising awareness towards environment protection is expected to be the key factor for driving industry growth.
Algae has the ability to offer 2 to 20 times higher yield than existing biofuel feedstock including corn stover, corn, sorghum and beet which is likely to open new avenues for the industry growth over the projected period. Increasing R&D conducted by numerous startup companies as well as various oil & gas majors, and university-led research consortiums are expected to propel production of the over the projected period. However, technological challenges and high capital investment in algae biomass and fuel production are expected to limit the industry growth.
Growing demand for low cost, reliable and sustainable energy sources to ease acute vulnerability to petroleum supply chain and meet the rising fuel demand by automotive and aviation sector is expected to have a positive impact on the industry growth over the forecast period. The industry is experiencing three major hurdles including maintaining algae biomass cultivation consistency across various regions and climates, high water demand for algae production and lack of technology innovation to commercial scale up. As a result, the market is expected to foresee regional partnerships and collaborations to capitalize the production and technology exchange for large scale productions.

They are LITERALLY in shrimp heaven and I NEED to calm down.
#pimephales promelas var petco#as far as I can tell people cause problems by feeding. removing algae. and disturbing the substrate.#Nothing bad can happen because the plants show new growth and there’s an airstone#all those slumped algae mats are my sponge filter and there’s so much Stuff in here the shrimp aren’t even bothering to go be on them!!!#everything they need is being drawn to them in their corner under the airstone.
